March 2025 – Naaldwijk, The Netherlands

Campanulove, the distinctive cut Campanula known for its long vase life, has once again demonstrated its outstanding durability. In February 2025, an extensive quality test was carried out by the independent Post Harvest Knowledge Centre of Royal FloraHolland, focusing specifically on winter conditions.

The results are impressive: all four Campanulove colors performed well above industry standards, even during the colder months.

During the trial, Campanulove easily passed both the transport simulation (5 days at 6°C) and retail simulation (2 days in-store at 20°C). The vase life test revealed that Campanulove lasted an average of 19 days in water, and up to 21 days with flower food—a remarkable achievement for any cut flower.

For reference: a vase life of 7 days is considered standard in the cut flower industry. These findings prove not only Campanulove’s winter resilience but also its year-round premium quality.

Karel Peterse, Product Manager at Sakata, explains:

“In the nearly two years I’ve worked with Campanulove, I’ve seen the flower in every season—and from the start, its vase life stood out. With clean water, it stays beautiful for nearly three weeks, as this test once again confirmed. What’s also impressive is that every bud opens. That makes Campanulove one of the most appreciated products in our portfolio.”

The Post Harvest Knowledge Centre at Royal FloraHolland plays a key role in making the floral industry more sustainable. Through in-depth research and practical advice on vase life, supply chain conditions, pre-treatment, and hygiene, they help extend product longevity throughout the chain.

Campanulove continues to prove itself as a versatile, reliable cut flower that maintains its quality all year round—making it a trusted choice for exporters, growers, and breeders alike.
